The historic city of St. John's is located on the east coast of the island of Newfoundland.
The airport code for St. John's International Airport is YYT. Please take care to ensure that your travel agent avoids booking flights to the similarly-named city of Saint John in New Brunswick.
Several airlines offer direct flights each day between St. John's and the Canadian cities of Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto. There are also daily flights between Newark NJ (with United Airlines) and London UK (with Air Canada).
The airport is located about a 10 minute taxi drive from Memorial University (at a cost of about $25).
Anybody wishing to take ground transportation to St. John's instead of travelling by air will need to make reservations with Marine Atlantic for the 6-hour ferry crossing from North Sydney NS to Port aux Basques NL. Upon arriving at Port aux Basques, follow the eastbound Trans-Canada Highway for 905 km to St. John's. To travel by bus, DRL Coachlines operates a daily service between Port aux Basques and St. John's (with the final bus stop being at Memorial University).
