Local Information

Registration Desk: The registration desk for the conference will be in the atrium of the Bruneau Centre (building #13 on the campus map). Registration will be available on Sunday June 9th from 14:00 until 18:00, and on June 10th - 13th from 08:00 until 15:30.
Locations for Conference Talks: Plenary lectures will be in room IIC-2001, located on the second floor of the Bruneau Centre (building #13 on the campus map). This lecture theatre is equipped with a data projector and document camera. Rooms for other talks are in the Arts & Administration Building (building #14 on the campus map) and in the Science Building (building #21 on the campus map). Each classroom is equipped with chalkboards and a data projector.
Internet Access: Memorial University is a participant of eduroam. If your home institution is also an eduroam participant, then you can pre-configure your computer to wirelessly connect to eduroam before you arrive. Otherwise a userid and password will have to be issued to you upon your arrival, at which time you may also need to make some configuration modifications in order to connect to the MUN wireless network. It is advisable to download a copy of the relevant instructions from Step 3 on this webpage before you come.
Food Options on Campus:
- Food Court, located in the University Centre (building #11 on the campus map)
- Bitters Restaurant and Lounge (the Grad Student Pub), located in Feild Hall (building #33 on the campus map)
- The Pantry, located at the Autism Centre (near the word "Clinch" as printed on the campus map). Reservations are recommended.
- Science Cafe, located in the basement of the Science Building.
- Library Cafe, located in the entrance to the QEII Library (building #9 on the campus map).
Bookstore: The university bookstore is on the second floor of the north side of the University Centre.
Cash Machines: Scotiabank has a cash machine in the lobby of the Science Building. RBC has a cash machine on the third floor of the University Centre, near the stairs that descend towards the bookstore.
Child Care: The MUN Childcare Centre can provide day care for a limited number of children of conference delegates. Only children who are at least 2 years of age but not yet 12 years of age can be accommodated. Conference delegates wanting more information should contact David Pike at dapike@mun.ca for referrals and more details.
Metrobus Transit: Click here to go to the website for Metrobus Transit. Specific bus routes:
- Route 10 - between MUN and Downtown
- Route 14 - between MUN and Airport Heights (there is a bus stop near the airport)
Post Office: There is a post office located in "The Attic" on the third floor of the north side of the University Centre.
Parking: "Pay and Display" parking is available in parking areas 27A (located on the first level of the new Parking Garage that is building #42 on the campus map), 61 (located underneath the Earth Sciences Building that is building #19 on the campus map), and 27 (which is a gravel area behind Coughlin College, which is building #31 on the campus map). Rates are $0.75 per hour for parking areas 27A and 61, or $0.25 per hour for area 27.
Pharmacy: There is a pharmacy inside Shoppers Drug Mart at Churchill Square on Elizabeth Avenue.
