Travel

The beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia, is located at the south tip of Vancouver Island. One can fly to Victoria International Airport, into Victoria Harbour, or take one of the many ferries that sail to Vancouver Island. The city of Vancouver is not located on Vancouver Island; travellers arriving at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) still need to make their way to Victoria.

Airlines serving Victoria International Airport are listed on the Victoria Airport Authority web page. The airport is located about 25 km north of downtown. It is served by a variety of taxi companies, as well as an airport shuttle. BC Transit offers very limited bus service to the airport.

Pacific Coach Lines runs busses to downtown Victoria from Vancouver International Airport, and from the Vancouver Bus Terminal. The fare includes the ferry trip.

Harbour Air and WestCoast Air fly into Victoria Harbour from Vancouver Harbour, or the Richmond Floatplane Base near Vancouver Airport.

Kenmore Air flies into Victoria Harbour from Seattle: Lake Washington, Lake Union and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Helijet Airways flies to the Victoria Heliport, near downtown, from downtown Vancouver, and Vancouver International Airport.

BC Ferries sails from Tsawassen Terminal 30 km south of Vancouver to Swarts Bay Terminal 30km north of Victoria. Reservations are recommended for bringing cars to the island by ferry. The BC Ferries connect with Translink in Vancouver and the Victoria Regional Transit System. One can also purchase a Pacific Coach Lines bus ticket to the Victoria Bus Depot on board the ferries.

Black Ball Ferries sails from Port Angeles, Washington, to Victoria Harbour. Reservations are recommended for bringing cars to the island by ferry.

Washington State Ferries sails from Anacortes, Washington, to Sidney, 30 km north of Victoria. Reservations are recommended for bringing cars to the island by ferry.

Clipper Navigation sails high-speed passenger-only ferries from downtown Seattle to Victoria Harbour. Full time students with a valid student card, may get a 25% discount by booking by phone at 1-800-888-2535. The discount is not available online.

The Victoria Express offers passenger-only service from Port Angeles, Washington to Victoria Harbour.
